Guide to EU Framework Programmes

Research and innovation funding from the European Union
GUIDE

This Electronic Guide will help you to understand the EU’s Research Programmes (the Framework Programmes) and to set up project proposals applying for funding.

EU Framework Programmes are a collection of actions at EU level to fund and promote research and technological development.

European research funding is allocated on a competitive basis. Project proposals are submitted by project consortia. The main recipients are researchers from EU member states from both public and private organisations, academia and industry.

Project objectives that are eligible for funding are primarily research and technological development, but funding is also available for collaboration, networking, conferences, workshops, fellowships, and surveys.

You can receive personal support on EU funding schemes and proposal preparation from National Contacts Points (NCP), usually for free. These organisations are set up in all EU countries.
